The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. and other organizations were very concerned about Cobb County, Georgia, eliminating advance voting sites for the 2020 special senatorial election. The County wanted to eliminate over half of the County's advance voting locations. The NAACP was concerned that these closures would be harmful to Cobb County's Black and Latinx voters since many of these locations slated to be closed were in Black and Latinx communities.

Using Social Explorer's advanced data visualization and mapping tools, the NAACP was able to show that the elimination of advance voting sites impacts Black and Latinx voters disproportionately. The NAACP was able to incorporate their own point data into the Social Explorer tool and show this data on interactive maps showing the disparities in advance voting sites being closed.  

During a time of hyper-partisanship, having the ability to easily map demographic data to show inequities is a powerful tool for organizations focused on social justice. 

Thanks to the help of Social Explorer's intuitive mapping capabilities, Georgia reopened a significant number of the sites closed, and Warnock and Osoff were elected to the Senate, swinging control to the Democrats.
